Your business and customers guide the strategy, AI and human judgment behind your marketing and sales.

15+ years in marketing and sales.

Over $50M in sales generated across my career, spanning multiple service industries.

Your business deserves more than an agency playbook.

You do the research. You sit through the pitches. You trust the promises. Then the reports start arriving, but you're still explaining your business—and wondering what any of it means for sales.

I've spent more than 15 years in marketing and sales, working with agencies big and small. I've seen what happens when delivering the process becomes more important than understanding the business it's supposed to serve.

Your customers have real priorities, routines, and reasons for choosing you. A useful marketing strategy starts with understanding those lives: what matters to them, where they live, how they make decisions, and when they need your help.

That's where I come in.

You work directly with me. I take the time to understand your business, customers, niche, positioning, and messaging—then connect the work to what matters to your business.

That's my anti-agency approach: personal involvement, a strategy shaped around you, and attention to what happens through the sale.

Get to know my approach

Your business is different.
Your recipe should be too.

The right message starts with the person who needs your help.

What matters to your customers? How do they live, who do they trust, and what makes them ready to act? Their needs, local context, and everyday routines should shape how you show up.

I connect that understanding to your positioning, message, and sales process, so your marketing fits into your customers' lives and helps them make a decision.

  4. 04

More tools aren't the answer.

The tools don't talk to each other.

Your website, phone calls, CRM, ads, and reviews each hold part of the customer story. That context needs to follow the person through the sale.

AI is in the building, not in the workflow.

One-off AI tasks only go so far. The useful work connects to how your team understands inquiries, responds, and follows through.

Busy doesn't mean growing.

More campaigns and reports won't explain which work brings in the customers you want. Your systems need to help answer that question.

That's how the pieces start working together.

Adding tools compared with building a system
Adding toolsBuilding a system
Instead of: Buy another platform and hope it fixes follow-upFix the handoff first, then choose the tool
Instead of: Everyone tries AI their own wayOne shared workflow, with a person reviewing what matters
Instead of: Report on clicks and leadsFollow qualified inquiries through to customers and revenue
Instead of: More campaigns, more content, more noiseFewer priorities, shaped around your customers and business

Start with your customers and your strategy. Build a better system around them.

Put AI to work with
your business in mind.

Your customer context gives AI a useful place to start. I build it into research, content, follow-up, and marketing automation and CRM systems, with a person making the decisions that need judgment.

  1. Customer need

Understand what matters to this customer.

  2. Business context

Bring in their situation and your sales process.

  3. AI assistance

Support relevant research and routine work.

  4. Human judgment

Check the context and choose the right next step.

  5. Useful response

Offer helpful information at the right time.

  6. Sales outcome

See whether the opportunity stays open, is won or is lost.

  7. Learn and refine

Use the outcome to improve the next response.

AI is an ingredient. Not the entire recipe.

Measure what happens beyond the lead.

A lead is a starting point. What matters is whether it becomes the right customer and worthwhile work. We look at the path through the sale to see what is working and where people get stuck.

Connected marketing systems

Keep the customer story connected, from the first inquiry to the next step in the sale.

Follow the work all the way through.

Getting found and following through belong to the same story. We track what happens next, so a report about leads can become a useful conversation about your business.

  1. Inquiry

A person reaches out. Capture what they need and how they found you.

  2. Qualified conversation

Understand their needs, timing, and fit. Agree on the right next step.

    • Still openKeep a relevant next step.
    • LostUnderstand the reason.
  3. Booked work

See which conversations turn into work your business wants to win.

  4. Revenue

Connect the work you win to the revenue it actually brings in.

Use every outcome to improve the next conversation.

An illustrative sales journey. Opportunities can remain open or be lost along the way; tracking what happens helps us decide what to improve.

Tools I build and use myself.

These personal workflows show how I put ideas into practice. They contain no client data and are separate from client results.

  1. Meeting notes into reviewed action items

Recorded conversations become proposed tasks. The workflow checks for duplicates, logs anything it couldn't read, and holds every item until I approve it.

  2. A local search system

Service-area page structure, search readiness audits, and an internal-link tool that proposes links with anchor text and placement for review.

  3. AI-assisted creative production

Reusable brand context and rendering workflows turn one brief into editable concept variants.

More about my experience

Questions owners
ask first.

Will I work directly with you?

Yes. You work directly with me, T.J. Kidder. I take the time to understand your business and customers, help set the direction, and stay involved as we put it into practice. We discuss the work and responsibilities together before an engagement begins.

How is your anti-agency approach different?

I've worked with agencies big and small throughout my career. I've seen good-looking reports leave owners without a useful answer about sales. My starting point is how your business earns customers: your niche, positioning, messaging, and sales process. We choose the work around that context and follow what happens beyond the lead.

Can you work with my existing team or agency?

Yes. I can work alongside your team and the agencies or specialists you already use. We clarify priorities, responsibilities, and how the work connects so everyone can make decisions with the same business and customer context.

Where does AI fit into the work?

AI is a major part of what I build, from research and content workflows to follow-up, CRM, and reporting. We start with a useful job for it to do, give it the business context it needs, and decide where a person reviews or approves its work. Customer relationships and business judgment still need people.

Do you only work with San Diego service businesses?
